2,136,671 cases of childhood diarrhea treated
Despite significant advancements in reducing child mortality, diarrhea along with pneumonia and malaria accounts for a majority of under-five deaths. SHOPS Plus contributes to the reduction of childhood mortality and illness by improving access to child health services through private sector engagement. From 2019 to 2020, 525,057 cases of childhood diarrhea were treated. Over the life of the project, October 2015 to September 2020, SHOPS Plus facilitated the treatment of over 2 million cases of childhood diarrhea with zinc and oral rehydration solution in Afghanistan, Haiti, Nigeria, and Madagascar. SHOPS Plus was able to treat over 2.6 billion liters of drinking water using chlorine water treatments solutions in Afghanistan, Haiti, Senegal, and Madagascar.
