Improving quality of intrapartum and immediate postpartum care

SHOPS Plus is working to improve the quality of care during intrapartum and immediate postpartum periods in public health facilities through the support of the Alliance for Saving Mothers and Newborns implementing partners. The team developed a tablet- and web-based application to help auxiliary nurse midwives adhere to clinical guidelines. Over 342,400 cases have been entered through the tablet.

Features include:

  • Enabling the tablet with instruments to monitor vital signs, automated plotting of e-partographs, and in-built decision support systems to trigger alerts
  • On-demand audio-visual tutorials
