Launching a new ORS and zinc co-pack

SHOPS Plus worked with the Nepal CRS Company (CRS) to launch a new oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc co-pack with a focus on rural districts, where diarrheal disease is more prevalent. The project conducted qualitative research with caregivers of children under 5 to better understand diarrhea care seeking and treatment perceptions and practices. The findings informed social behavior change messages developed by CRS to promote the new co-pack, which launched in November 2019.

SHOPS Plus also conducted a survey to measure availability and visibility of zinc and ORS. The results of the survey identified areas with insufficient access to zinc and ORS so CRS can will conduct special distribution and promotion efforts in these areas. An endline survey planned for 2020 will show the progress that CRS has made in making ORS and zinc more accessible.
