Recap

The Global Digital Health Network and the Personal Connected Health Alliance hosted the 4th Annual Global Digital Health Forum on December 4–6, 2017 in Washington, DC. The theme, The Evolving Digital Health Landscape: Progress, Achievements and Remaining Frontiers, looked at recent progress in scaling digital health systems and considered the continued need for innovation and integration to improve health outcomes.

SHOPS Plus presentation

Mbogo Bunyi, senior private sector advisor for SHOPS Plus, gave a panel presentation on designing, adapting, and scaling new health insurance products using digital innovations. He discussed Jamii, a mobile-enabled health insurance program sponsored by Edgepoint in partnership with Jubilee Insurance and Vodacom, which targets low-income individuals in Tanzania. SHOPS Plus helped launch Jamii for people living with HIV through outreach to community-based HIV support groups. These efforts seek to raise awareness of the benefits of Jamii and encourage enrollment to help provide financial risk protection for health care, including for HIV care and treatment.
